Our mission is to amplify Indigenous truths and stories across Turtle Island.
Our vision is Indigenous communities sharing their truths and stories as equals.
pipikwan pêhtâkwan (pee-pee-gwan pee-tah-gwan) is an Indigenous owned, led and majority staffed public relations and engagement agency dedicated to amplifying Indigenous voices, truths and stories across Turtle Island.
We serve Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses, organizations, governments and communities to bring Indigenous voices to the mainstream media and general public, while ensuring Indigenous Peoples maintain ownership of their initiatives and stories.
We are investing in Youth to build capacity in their communities. Whether they stay with us or move on, this greatly benefits and helps lift up Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island. We are building with seven generations in mind.
The pipikwan pêhtâkwan team prides ourselves as helpers who understand the barriers and know the language that resonates with our peoples. We collaborate with our partners to build communications and engagement strategies that work for Indigenous communities.
Our Values
A Name True to
Our Calling
To better reflect our growing team and our values, we sought a new name. In May of 2021, we attended a Cree naming ceremony to continue decolonizing our workplace and stay true to our guiding principles. By placing our trust in Ceremony, in our ways of knowing and being, we were gifted the name pipikwan pêhtâkwan (pee-pee-gwan pee-tah-gwan).
pipikwan pêhtâkwan directly translates to ‘eagle bone whistle that is heard loudly’ in nēhiyawēwin (Cree). The eagle bone whistle is used to wake the ancestors in a specific Ceremony. Elder Ken Saddleback, who gifted us the name, shared pipikwan pêhtâkwan will be heard throughout the land and the heavens to wake the ancestors.
