RaeAnne Harper

Engagement Coordinator

RaeAnne (she/her) is a nehiyaw and Métis iskwew, her Indigenous roots are in Onion Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan in Treaty 6 territory and she grew up in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. Currently she resides in amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton AB) with her partner, who both hold guardianship of RaeAnne’s niece and nephew and with a baby on the way. 

RaeAnne holds a BA in Native Studies with a Sociology minor and an Indigenous Governance and Partnership Certificate from the University of Alberta.  Through this journey, RaeAnne hopes to better understand the histories of Indigenous Peoples and how Indigenous People and non-Indigenous People can work together in a good way.

In her previous role with the National Association of Friendship Centres, RaeAnne sat as the National Youth Council President where she was able to gain skills in public speaking, advocacy and youth engagement. From this active engagement in youth councils, RaeAnne has gained various relationships with Elders and Youth from coast to coast. One of the highlights of her career to date was testifying before the Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples at Parliament Hill as a part of Youth Indigenize the Senate in 2018.

RaeAnne has most recently acquired the OCAP certification which has guided the way she approaches engagement, community and builds relationships.
