Our client, Kasohkowew Child Wellness Society (KCWS), is a Delegated First Nation Agency (DFNA) that delivers child intervention services to children and families living on Samson Cree Nation, in Treaty Six territory. It’s important for the agency to establish trust and credibility within the community in order to fulfill their mandate of helping children in care remain in the community with kin. Many years ago, a staff member designed a text-based document, now referred to as a ‘Lifebook,’ that children in care could use to document their life story - their family tree, their community, their health and more. KCWS identified the need to update this publication and make it more engaging so children and the caregivers would use it.

Our key tasks included:

  • Writing and editing copy for the publication

  • Using the organization’s vibrant and colourful branding to design a publication that resonates with children and youth to use the Lifebook

The publication contains over 50 pages to document the child’s information, learn about language, culture and community history, and play engaging games. The client noted that the updated Lifebook exactly captures what they had pictured and hoped for this publication.

“The Lifebook design is exactly what I pictured and hoped for when planning this project.”
